The embroideries bring alive shifting cultural allegiances; the mixing of tattoo and urban graffiti imagery with traditional decorative patterns and motifs, creates an ‘urban chinoiserie’ that celebrates and explores contemporary culture through the intertwining of historical patterns and contemporary embellishment. From feral lace to embellished creatures, from intricately embellished drawing to vast layered embroidered hangings, her embroidery creates a baroque pleasure; forming new marks, textures and stories.
In 2019 she was recently part of the Material: Textiles show at Messums Wiltshire, and one of her statement Parakeet Cocktail Chairs is in a private collection in Texas along with works by Yves Klein and other artists. She regularly shows at London Craft Week, most recently in 2019, as part of the acclaimed Future of Crafts exhibition focusing on collectable ‘craft/art’ pieces, led by Future Icons with Design Nation.
Jacky’s rich, textural artworks are available to commission and purchase.
Please enquire directly to the studio to purchase or commission one of Jacky’s pieces, and she will be pleased to discuss details, size and concept. Jacky also works with specialist framers and textile conservators, so should you require particular framing or mounting of a work, this can also be discussed.
