Contemporary Textiles at New Ashgate Gallery

I’m really excited to be part of this show at the New Ashgate Gallery! I’ll be showing my brand new embroidered Peacock piece, a double layered hanging using digital print, rich embroidery textures and motifs, and of course some real peacock feathers.

While I was making this piece, I particularly enjoyed the combination of the embroidery with the ethereal print on the silk organza second layer.

Contemporary Textiles

New Ashgate presents work by 9 textile makers, all perfectly balancing the important visual elements of pattern, colour and design with the physical and tactile nature of textiles.

Each maker is chosen for their ability to combine techniques, often traditional, with new ideas or cutting edge materials. Fusing outstanding craftsmanship with an eye for the current craft market, makers have impressed with their designs for decorative, wearable, collectible products.

The exhibition includes some of the hottest up-and-coming names in the textile art market: Maiko Dawson, Mathew Harris, Michelle House, Janie Knitted Textiles, Syrah Jay, Laura Mirjami, Claire Moynihan, Sally Nencini and Jacky Puzey.

There will be something to suit all tastes, perfect for gifts or a treat for yourself.
